Does anyone know how deep you can link in NBCI and About.com. First, with About.com, is there a limit to the number of relevant categories you can submit to? Will they consider it spamming if you submit to many categories and have multiple listings?

With NbCi, it is easy to deep link.Is it ok with the editors if you deep link in the Live Directory? I am under the assumption that if you have the content it is ok to have multiple listings on each domain. I have one with 7 listings and I never really thought about deep linking my other domains until today. Any views on the subject are appreciated. Thanks.

Yup, NBCi allows deep linking. Spend time on the titles, in particular.

But are you getting any traffic out of them? Ours seem to be whithering away and I don't know why (deep linked pages).

Here's a large site deep linked in NBCi competing on the most basic travel terms. It's currently doing 50k+ pageviews/week. Here are the last 20:

aj.nbci.com
search.msn.com
nbci.com
nbci.com
search.netscape.com/google.tmpl
nbci.com
qwestportal.nbci.com
tds.nbci.com
qwestportal.nbci.com
google.com/search
qwestportal.nbci.com
qwestportal.nbci.com
bookmarks
nbci.com
altavista.digital.com
search.com
qwestportal.nbci.com
bookmarks
search.netscape.com/google.tmpl
nbci.com

It's been steady and reliable for me. BUT, the editors have promoted 30% or more of the individual pages into the top section. Their database has grown dramatically over the past 4 or 5 months, it's getting harder and harder to be found.

In my experience the guides are pretty picky about what they list from submissions. I don't think there's a limit to submissions. I've been able to get sites and books listed for specific topics, but certainly not enough to worry about spamming in multiple sections. My tendancy would be to stay focused on a few areas for each submission and if listed have a few multiple listings.

I just added some extra listings to some of my domains on NBCi and edited most of my old ones. Mostly changing the titles. I have had a couple promoted but I am not sure how much traffic I am getting from them as I am temporarily without traffic stats. Brett,I will let you know how much traffic I am getting after my Stats are working.

I realize that About.com are very picky on what they include and have managed to get 2 in, 2 different domains. I just see that these same sites could easily fit into several other categories. On one of these sites I submitted to another category, and soon as I did the category became editorless. It seems that the other categories I want also dont have editors.Such is life.I will just keep on plugging away and concentrate on a few listings for each domain.
