Should I vary the title and description when submit to multiple directories?

If I don't do, is there a possibility on being guilty of over optimizing for the keywords in the title?

I find it difficult to create totally new (Even some combinations)listings with new titles and new descriptions because doing so changes the primary theme of my site and also I have seen that some directories insist to include the title in home page as the title for the listing making it even difficult.

I totally agree with you and i really feel that varying the title and description in your directory submissions is the best method to save yourself from over optimization penalty on keywords.
