I though dmoz was the most important place to be listed.
But I'm sure there are other important directories to be in.

Is there other quality directories you can consider?

I wish people would define what quality means. Not every website is quality. Good design? Lot's of links? Good traffic flow? Inexpensive?

What?

skaffe brings me more traffic than dmoz and google directory together.

JoeAnt is a mess, but I do get traffic from it as well.

Last and least, at least in my logs, Illumirate.

All others... not a hit.

Thanks
Skaffe you need to be editor or pay U$40 to get into. Joeant same thing. Illumirate same thing.

Any others?

That's right... but then you can be an editor.

Being an editor at Joeant is so easy it is worth it to do. Once you have learned the description writing style there, you can then use that style to sign up elsewhere like Skaffe. Remember not to copy descriptions from another directory word for word though even on the application to edit.

Yes you are right. Any others? General directories or travel directories would be as well.

For a small engine experience, why not try some the smaller, out of the way niche directories? :-)

It's not millions of hits, but traffic is traffic.

Overall, the submission process is somewhat more likely to result in approval because the owners tend to be a little more relaxed, and it is rumored some still accept free submissions thou even if they don't, the price tends to be either considerably more reasonable or a one-time fee, for examples.

Overall, there are 200-300 active ones, likely at least 20-30 will fit your site.

I may recommend you take your time, unless you can spot a fake or bogus directory from a mile away, take 20 minutes and surf the site a bit, to get an idea of its quality, so to speak. Also, read the rules and the closer your site fits both the rules AND the category(ies) available, the better.

Far as what is quality, that you must decide thou in my case I learned it gets better with time.
Good Luck.

p.s.: I am not allowed to give you the url to mine because that would be self-advertising and I am not allowed to tell you said url may be located as close as 1 click away.

You can stick me since what I'm looking for is a concrete idea of what can you do once you are in google and yahoo. And urls to browse would be a good starting point!

I don't think there is a concrete answer as it will depend on your product/service/market etc. For some it may be print advertising, others directories, TV ads, etc.

BTW. For those that use the previously used directories and are weekend/holiday warriors. Skaffe is having a sale over the New Years weekend of $5 submissions.
