Well,

Low and behold, i have a new site which i released in August 05 - at which point I submitted to several directories, including Dmoz.

About 3 months later (today), I do a backlink check on google, and low and behold, i've been listed in the category I applied for in DMOZ.

My site is very niche specific - to a small town in Canada - nonetheless, very happy to be listed - does this mean I can expect good things to come?

Andrew :)

Why is this news? 1000-2000 sites get added daily to DMOZ.

It is news to this person because some people wait 2 years to be listed in DMOZ.

It's certainly a step in the right direction. A DMOZ listing, along with favorable SERPs is a validation of your efforts. Keep up the good work.

Hi Guys,

cbpayne: it is good news for me , because several sites i've "attempteD" to list with Dmoz have yet to be accepted after 8 months (or reviewed I believe).

It was a "sigh" of relief.

And like suggested, i have definately validated all pages, and everything so far looks on the "up and up"...

Andrew.

I just got accepted in a month into a local (city) category with no permanent editor. Category contains 146 sites. The topic is in a pretty competitive area. Go DMOZ!
