DMOZ editor, where are you?

I recently had a hit from DMOZ.

In My awstats, it says that I have had "one" connect to site from DMOZ. Does that mean my site is now listed in DMOZ or does it mean that someone is starting to look at it or? Can anyone help?

Its possible I suppose.

Copy the entire line from your Access_log file, exemplifying your URL.
Then maybe we can make a better guess. -Larry

It means nothing meaningfull. You will never know what it means, it could be that an editor was just looking at the site with no intent to review it, it could be an editor reviewing it and rejecting it, or deleting it, or moving it, or changing the URL, or changing something else, and putting off reviewing it till later. Or marking it as spam, or adding a note that it should never be listed. Or many other things.

It does not even tell you that is is waiting in the gicantic pile of unreviewed sites.

Hi Larry, how do I get what you want, about the raw log files? Basically I can click on the link that says this is a link to your awstats.

You email the host ISP. Ask then how to download your ACCESS_LOG files.
I have my host saving separate log files daily, and I download every day to check traffic.
IF your host refuses, I strongly suggest changing hosts.
If you have a 'free' host, not your own domain, this will be virtually impossible.

Every hit from anywhere is listed chronologically in the access_log files.
It takes a while to decipher the listings, you will get past that.

Access_log files are virtually indispensible for finding hot-linked images
and lots of other nasty stuff that goes on.
There are pleasant surprises too, seeing who actually links to you being one of them. -Larry

Lets say I have a page about a special map, some text, and the map image itself: specialmap.gif

Somebody else likes the map and puts it on HIS site, using a URL to MY site.

The perpetrator shows my work, and I pay for the bandwidth.

Very nifty, until I discover this in my ACCESS_LOG files, it doesn't take long ..

If I can, I email the scum-master and ask for a nice link back.
If that doesn't work, or I can't get through, then its time for musical images.

I change the filename of my real image, and point the corresponding page to the renamed image.
I find a nice SUBSTITUTE image, usually smaller, and give it the original image name.
All this gets sent up to my host ISP.

Its the only fair and legal way I know to change the appearance of somebody else's page.
Fast and automatic. Sometimes I put up 'commercials' back to my website.
People have been known to substitute some really raunchy pix.
I don't do that, but I have to laugh when others do. -Larry

He is in my sticky mail, harrassing me behind closed doors because I pointed out the DMOZ failures in one specific category in this thread, since deleted by a WW editor, because it was viewed as OFF TOPIC.

(Sidebar to DMOZ editors: 'Herb' scales are sold in gourmet kitchen categories, not along side rolling papers and water pipes, when they are used for legal purposes, contrary to my competitor's view, and apparently the view of one DMOZ editor.)

At least one editor is. Another has been politely discussing DMOZ with me.

The one harrassing me, needs to stop now. You have been publicly notified. If you have something to say to me in a negative and hostile manner, say it to the entire WW user base. Otherwise, from this point on, I will consider it DMOZ generated harrassment, not productive discussion.

If you are being harassed by an actual editor (as opposed to someone claiming to be an editor) copy the harassing messages and use the public abuse report system. [report-abuse.dmoz.org...]

Communications Guidelines:
