Can I get some PR by submitting to Zeal and Skaffe?

What is the future of directories?

Is google harsh ( so I read) only on paid directories or even free ones?

Is it worth converting my new content portal to a directory or should I just create one page for free links?

Yes, Zeal and Skaffe can pass PR if you feel that is important. I would recommend a listing. Skaffe uses Google Sitemaps on new sites.

Future: Time will tell and you get many answers.

Google harshness: Many feel that they are harsh on scraper sites and ODP clones. Zeal, Joeant, Skaffe, etc. all have original content.

I would do the directory if you plan on having a lot of content.
