I been trying to make some submissions but I keep getting:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /home/jdavid/joeant/www/hill/joebrd/Forum.php on line 55
Can not connect to MySQL

Is this common with them?

Could be a server glitch, or an IE problem. I get roughly the same message when accessing my site sometimes.

Try rebooting, as this resets IE.

what the heck would rebooting my box have to do with mysql on their server?

lol

I dunno, you try and help some people. If you know that it can't be that - then why are you asking for advice that you don't need.

Haven't you got a web designer? lol

You still didn't answer the question. Please explain how rebooting my computer would clear their error on their server.

Or were you just trying to be a funny punter? yeah I thought so

Trillian:
Yeah it looks like they cleared it up. Back to the original question: Are they down a lot or is this a one off occurance?

The guy read too fast and thought that was a problem in your server, just that.
Now, the error is very clear, it seems they got overloaded, just wait some time and try again later.

I find that doubtful, since when has rebooting ever been required to reset a web browser?

at anyrate I'm bouncing from this thread

Since my latest version of IE6. Some problems with it can only be cleared by rebooting.

The error means there are too many people in JoeAnt's server at that time. Just tell JoeAnt to increase the max no. of MySQL connection and the error will be gone.

The error is not relate to your computer/ browser.

Too many connections - this error is caused by their mysql database server not being set up correctly for the amount of traffic they have - there are too many connections to their database at the same time - which normally means there are too many people accesing the site at the same time and stresing the database beyond what it has been setup to handle. This is Joe Ant's problem and nothing to do with you.

Buying a new PC sometimes helps clear the cache!

Glad to know that support guys are worse in the USA than in my country.
Here they only ask you to defrag your disk. :)

I do a lot of surfing and prefer IE as I'm on the Mac. IE is not being upgraded for the Mac so we're stuck with version 5.52. However too many sites are no longer supporting older versions of IE and the webpages are all messed up and give errors when submitting sites, etc. At that point I switch over to Firefox, but Firefox doesn't have all the neat features that IE has so then I switch back till next time.
