I've read on this site that bcentral is good and well worth 49 bucks. But that's if you end up on PR3 and higher page. In my case, the bcentral directory on my particular topic spreads into 2 pages, with first being PR3 and second... PR1. What if I end up on this second page? Should I still take a risk and pay 49 bucks?

from the sbd submit page:

Placement of your listing in up to 3 relevant directory categories

you can appear on the PR3 page, PR1 page and you still have enought time to find a PR4 page to list your site under ;)

There seems to be more benefit to a listing here than just PR.

All new listings appear last. If you submit any changes at a later date, your updated listing will now appear last. Make sure you submit a listing you're happy with.

If you don't feel it's worth the $49.00 you can always cancel after the first year.

  • Listed in 3 categories; each with 3 additional anchor text deeplinks.
  • Business card page with 9 anchor text deeplinks.

Does anyone know if this $49 per year, instead of one-time, is a change since they launched?

I don't remember that being the case in the beginning.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like it is $49 per year.

Bcentral in my opinion is the best directory on the market. They allow you links to internal pages as well. The only issue I have is that in competive industries, you may not get listed till page 30 in a category.

it seems quite good value for (PR) money - but does it actually send you load of traffic or are you only talking linkage benefits?

The only issue I have is that in competive industries, you may not get listed till page 30 in a category.

I can see that evolve in a higher number of categories once it reaches a critical number. There are still some PR2/PR3 pages empty.

My problem is also the way they display addresses on the business cards it's all compacted.

Another good point is that all the site submitted so far (5) have been listed withing two days - and that includes sites submitted on Friday evening (GMT).

So far they haven't sent me a single visitor, but I never expected them to send me much traffic in the first place. I had problems with getting accepted though, the editor was from Philippines and she demanded that I remove half of the links from my link pages. But finally I got accepted and I think it was worth it.

And what about SubmitIt service, should I use it if my sites are already listed in most SE they mention (accept for Northern Light I think)? Will it a) do any good, b) do nothing or c) actually do harm? How do Google and Yahoo look at submissions through SubmitIt?
