Of those of you who are very familiar with DMOWZ; how often do they update their index? My broswer shows their last update June 7.

Thank you in advance.

dmoz changes its index real-time as volunteer editors add or substract listings. now, maybe the page YOU track hasn't changed in months, but that only reflects that editor's habits. also, dmoz listings on google and many other places and google, for one, is notoriously slow in refreshing its dmoz content.

I think he's referring to the site search index, right?

"Nominally," it's once a week. Twice a month is "normal", less often is not unusual.

Don't worry about it. It's an editor tool, not widely used by the surfing public.

Often you can do better by doing a "directory search" at Google (which is nominally updated once a month, but ... less often is not unusual). Or you can do a "dmoz.org site search" at Google, which probably gets updated more than monthly, and reliably so.

Thank you for the comments. They do help. I submitted in early July, still nothing.

The link from DMOZ is still valued as mid to upper importance. It is a State wide widget installer with excellent content, eye candy and most of all the user gets exactly what they came for; how much and when can it be done.

Their competition(mutilple sites) are listed and indexed with one and two page yuck sites, I dont get it.

Any suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

The bit that you can control is what is on your site, and the title and description you submitted to the ODP.

Having done that, there is nothing more that you can do. The rest is down to someone else.

OK, you're NOT talking about the search index, you're talking about a directory listing.

In THAT case, the answer is "the ODP is updated about 4000 times a day, everytime any editor either adds, changes, or deletes a listing."

Which tells you nothing about when your site may be reviewed -- which is presumably all you care about. Unfortunately, there is no way you can ask any question to get that information, because we don't have it and can't get it. (I don't know what sites I'll edit tomorrow, let alone all the other thousands of editors over the next year!)

...and sometimes they rearrange the hierarchy, which kills all your backlinks.

I just noticed today that a site was "moved" when the categories were re-arranged.... all the backlinks disappeared.
