I want to become an editor for the categroy I want my site listed in so I can get in. Should I tell them that I have a site for that category or not?

Currently there are only a dozer or so in the categroy and no editor, it is a low level categroy but will still help if I get in. I see no other way.

Thanks for any advice.

yes, be honest. i was frank about my own conflict and they were perfectly okay with it. but also take your need for objectivity seriously. it's not truly a conflict unless you make it one by toying with who gets listed or who doesn't.

Yes, we don't mind if you list your own site, as long as it meets guidelines (i.e. not an affiliate site, not a lead-generator, not a mirror of an already-listed site, has original content). In fact, we're *happy* if you list your own site, as long as you don't play favorites about it.

If you are using a email like AOL it may not get to you. They should reply in a week or shorter.

search on resource zone and you will be taken to the forum for the ODP. There you can ask Meta editors how your application is coming along.

I was lucky as I was accepted on my first try. I did go for a very small category though.

Failure to divulge your site at the time of application could have serious consequences at a later time. Eventually someone will figure out what sites you own, and if didn't mention it, you could suddenly find you are no longer an editor. And in some cases, the listing of your site might be removed.
