I was at the bottom cat.
>Real Estate in general has been spammed a lot.
i bet it has, so how does a "non spmammer" work around this?
The site covers the realestate area lised in the description:
This category has soon emerged to be for brokers/firms ONLY, such as, but not limiting to, Re/Max, Century 21, Prudential, etc. This means offices are listed here, not agents' personal websites.
My site is not a agents' personal websites but more of a brokers/firms .
So if the site fits into this cat and there is no "add url" all the way up and down the chain then what am i to do?
Thank you all for your help :)

With a note about where you really want to be listed.
I looked there for a "add url" but did not see it.
Should i fire off an e-mail to one of the cat edtiors with a note?
or would that "tick-them-off"?
Note:I looked at some of the sites that are listed in this cat and the 2nd one come up with a "404 error". As to the rest of the sites listed they seem to be inline with my site.
First is that it is slated to be moved. The contents of those categories are actually regional in nature and need to be moved into their proper localities, per the regional real estate guidelines.
Secondly, the way real estate sites are listed is unique and specific to real estate listings, due to the spam problem mentioned above. Many agents will try to list their sites in each city they serve.
Local real estate agents and agency web sites may be listed only once in the directory, and that listing is in the locality in which the office is located.
Editors make exceptions where it makes sense, but those are rare.
So, if you have a real estate site belonging to a company that serves all of Illinois, but the main office is in Chicago, it is listed in the Regional Chicago real estate category [dmoz.org].
When you do that, you want to submit a description which indicates the area you serve.
Bad Desc: Largest real estate listing agency in the country!
Good Desc: Handles listings in the Greater Chicago area and northern Illinois.
*These examples are rough. I know squat about real estate. :)
So if i have this correct i should drill down all the way to the bottom of the locality even though the site covers much of the state.
An enter a descp. of the site that would encompass all of the state.
(i.e. Chicago,Illinois real estate agents & multiple listing services. Offering property search, agent search, & information for buyers, sellers, and renters for Greater Chicago area and northern Illinois.)
Thank you
>(i.e. Chicago,Illinois real estate agents & multiple listing services. Offering property search, agent search, & information for buyers, sellers, and renters for Greater Chicago area and northern Illinois.)
This might be better described as:
Agents and multiple listing services offering property or agent search and information for northern Illinois and the Greater Chicago area.
You want to keep the ampersands out, and the description tight and compact.
*This is my own opinion and does not reflect any official ODP policy. Note also that no one is guaranteed a listing in ODP, and that listing or not listing is at each editor's discretion.
