Hi,

I applied to dmoz, in December last year. The other day, finally, I noticed that their website editor had paid a visit to my site. When will my website finally get listed?

regards,

There's no way of telling if it will be listed, let alone when.

If you submitted to the wrong category (and most submitters do!) then the first thing an editor will have to do is shuffle it to the right category.

Assuming, that is, that they looked at it with intent to do anything.

Also, you should remember that an editor may not show up in your logs at all -- depending on how their editing desktop is set up. So just because you DON'T see an editor doesn't mean that the exact disposition of your site isn't being intently debated in our internal forums.

So your question is really a little bit like: "I saw a red car today. What will the weather be tomorrow?" There's no connection whatsoever.

hi,

I'm not sure what you are getting at. I'm sure I submitted to the correct category, and since the stats show an editor with ID logging on, from dmoz, then I guess it's reasonable to assume a dmoz editor was checking out the website.

He's trying to tell you not to get your hopes up--seeing the visit in your logs is uncorrelated to being listed in the directory. It could be that the editor was just skimming all the sites in the category and didn't list your site. Two weeks later, he could come back to list it and you might not see that second visit in your logs at all, because he was viewing the sites in a different way. You really can't tell anything about your site's status from looking at the referrer logs. Sorry...

Maybe an editor did a quick look, and said, oh no, another site in the wrong category, and sent it off somewhere else where a different editor will have to look at it.

Maybe a senior editor was doing random checks on sites waiting to be reviewed, and it wasn't the editor for that category.

Could be so many things, it's beeter to not get too hopeful.
