A search on Google for "add url" or "addurl" along with a few keywords will also bring up lots of sites and directories that accept submissions.
Every time there is a post looking for smaller directories we get a bunch of link drops to directories of questionable value and that in many cases appear to be self promotion.
In order to be metioned in the forums here (linked or unlinked), the directory should be well established, comprehensive (general directory should have 50k+ listings, specialized may have fewer), not an ODP clone or one where most of the directory is ODP listings, not be setup to advertise search engine marketing services, have a PageRank of at least 6, and not appear to be setup primarily to sell PageRank.
I'm not looking for any smaller directories. I just want to find out from people what kind of traffic (if any) they get from the directories I listed. There is not way I can find that out anywhere else. I think those directories I listed comply with your guidelines. I hate when people are using this forum to promote their small - no worth mentioning directories.
For me, the residual traffic from spiders crawling the directories are the real advantage. Hits from the directories themselves are just a bonus.
How you can tell how much this is actually happening?
Also I would like to hear from more people about any traffic they get from directories I mentioned. Please.
Thank you
Not a lot of traffic from either GoGuides.org or Gimpsy. Actually I think Gimpsy has a free submit if you don't mind waiting.
Edit: spelling
Honestly, I'm seeing more traffic via links from on-theme non-directory content sites than I am from JoeAnt or GoGuides. If you're down to the point of looking at JoeAnt, it might be better to move on to the content sites.

Interesting. I can't remember the last time one of my sites got a hit from Joe Ant, and I checked and they are still listed.
When comparing any of them to Yahoo or business.com, its like comparing a Porsche to a Chevy.
Do you get any traffic from business.com?

I have some sites like that too.
What helps is if the JoeAnt directory page happens to be ranked very highly in Google's Algo of the Week and that the subject matter is based on a popular media driven subject.
Topical directories can be very good.
The only commercial general subject directory that is a household name is Yahoo, and they have devalued the directory relative to search. Google Directory probably follows, except their new search results do not seem to provide the directory category along with the site, and with the directory link demoted to a secondary page, any traffic from the Google Directory is likely to have fallen off as well.
Other good search terms are "add your site" and"submit url"
Also, browse DMOZ for Directories categories, not just in your niche subcategory but in the levels above..
An on topic niche directory listing can be very valuable - do judge the quality of the design and other links included. If you have to pay ask for traffic details.
