Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how Google and dmoz.org work together. I need to add a site to dmoz. It will be more helpful if I know how the thing works. Thanks in advance.

Like hundreds of other websites Google has a clone of dmoz. That's how they work together.

Dmoz provides their directory to Google, Google will also index your description and will use it in Google. They also send robots to find new links as well.

I am unable to select into which category my site falls into. Does the selection of the category affect the hits to my site from google? Thanks.

And who will description in the dmoz? Are we supposed to do it or are the editors of dmoz going to do it? Thanks a lot.

You are post to write the description yourself, but if the dmoz thinks it needs to be redone, they will.

I would suggest you go to the dmoz resource forum... It can't be posted here but search for it and you will find it. Read the posts of a few people who are checking the status of their submissions before you submit yours. It may save you a good deal of grief to avoid common mistakes out of naivety. :)

As mentioned above, read the guidelines about your submission. Your listing (if approved) will most likely be faster if you submit to the correct category. Should you submit to the wrong category, the editor will then move your submission to the correct category. I've seen sites being bounced all around, and each move costs you more time for a potential approval.

All DMOZ categories get included in the Google Directory (when G gets around to updating its Directory). PR has nothing to do with it.
