MSN abandons Looksmart for its 'Web Directory'

I just noticed the following message at the top of the Looksmart submission page when clicking through from MSN:

"Starting in mid-January, 2004, MSN will no longer display search results from the Web Directory"

HOORAY!

To see this message:
1 - Go to search.msn.com
2 - Click "Submit a Web site to be listed in the Web directory"

to be replaced with what?

Well that sucks. I had a listing with a great description that dominated all of the MSN SERPs for my keywords.

Wait... maybe that's why they are ditching the directory, too easy to dominate the SERPs. ;)

I guess, Look$mart is really having a bad time over the net, got dumped by MSN web search, and now by the MSN directory, got ditched by Inktomi and Sprinks, Closed Look$mart UK and oh, the 'Grub' Idea didn't really work out.

I wonder when they will improve their systems after all this dumping business.
