Now they say it doesnt work in mozilla, however it works fine for the other 99%(IE netscape ect...) of browsers.
Its in the editors oppinion that I will not be listed, because of this.
So basicly I wait forever and a week for a 70 site list of sites, listing to get this?
Am i suppose to spend $20,000 so my site designer will make my site work for the DMOZ editor?
Im assuming $20,000 would be better spent on adwords.
I checked my logs for this month, Out of 3 million hits 49 were for moozilla, this is driving me crazy the whole scenario is insane!
Please don't take it personally. In this I consider you the mark, not the con man. (Although even that may be unfair: your story is certainly plausible but I haven't heard the other side.)
If you look at the code on the front page, right where the <doctype> starts is where I take over. Im sure that alot of the coding problems, might look bad, this is all my guess, but the thing is, the site is laid out so that you fill in the blanks, and there are many ways of doing it.
Im this first package deal owner to do this way, and its a HTML box of sorts, so basicly I create my page in Dreamweaver, typically I stay at 600 pixels, so at 800x600 we dont have the little bar on the bottom, for all my pages except the front page, it goes about 840 because of the menu sitting at the top of the main page.
Any way I just copy my code after I have made my page in dreamweaver and past into the HTML editor, box thing. There are also basic tools to use ect to make text and tables and links, but I just use dreamweaver and cut and paste.
Im thinking some of the code errors may be related to this un tradittional type of website, the package deal. And the way a person can edit using a browser ect, and the part that a person can edit is a certain portion ect. Also there are many options of positioning ect. So Im thinking thats why people see the code and are like WTF.
When I first got the site it had 2 heads and 2 bodies, major spam violation, would not come back with a code 200 to the spider either, I have had him correct like 50 things.
On the same note he has designed a whole brand new shopping cart for me, he has added and corrected atleast 50 items to improve the site/package for free. He has really bent over backwards, he is on my instant messenger and I ask him things every day, for 4 months straight. He charges $40 a month for hosting, we have used a ton of bandwidth, he has just added another T1 to his network of Servers(we are taking alot of bandwidth).
He is currrently making me a very Complex database program for the site so a person can imput their widget and the sytem will disply the widgets we sell that will fit the customers widget. The price is $1000 for this, and I think its a great price.
There may be a few more coding errors over time I will have him completely have it 100%, but I have recieved way more then my share for the initial $5k and the guy has bent over backwards for me.
Thanks again for all your observations, and help!
