AOL w/o inclusion?

why isn't AOL monetizing more search?

AOL's the only big search destination that has paid placement but not paid inclusion (i.e. something like what Looksmart does). Why not?

I would've thought those guys would be dying to monetize as much search as possible to help get back into the black.....

Does anyone think they'll sign with Looksmart anytime soon? Sure could use the extra distribution for my ads.

Google does too. They're big, aren't they? :)

I'm positive we won't. No telling when they'll change their business model again, or to what. Besides, we're still getting free listings on all of our accounts.,

Do you work for AOL? Why would they have to change their biz model to add directory listings above algorithmic search? Doesn't seem to me like it would be too hard.

What do you mean you're getting free listings? How?

AOL's free listings come from Google

I'm kind of confused as to why this thread is under 'directories' since AOL search returns results that are mostly pure Google with references to Google directory categories stripped out. (A couple of categories come from 'AOL editors'.)

The sponsored links on AOL are Google Adwords, you can always take a shot at that.

>>No telling when they'll change their business model again

And in the very stable business that we're in we can be sure they will

Sorry, I misunderstood this question in a major way.

Please ignore my answer above.
