Zeal listing doing well for MSN

But only locally....

We got a Zeal listing a month or so back for a non-commercial site and as a result the site is doing very well in MSN serps, no. 1 in msn.co.uk and a couple of other European regionals.

However, this site is relevant and would be of interest to people wherever they are geographically (it's a hobby site).

There is no "worldwide" listing for this category in Zeal, only regional by geographics.

I don't think that multiple listings are allowed in Zeal, but are there any Zealot's here who would know if we could get the site somehow "symlinked" to the other geographics (there's about 10 of them in all)?

Many thanks,

TJ

Surely someone here know's something about MSN?

I appreciate everyone is wrapped up in the whole google thing at the moment but we have to branch out sometime!

Incidentally, the reason that I asked the question is that although we do well in a few regional MSN SERPS (msn.co.uk, msn.nl etc) we are nowhere on .com

It maybe that they have different datacentres that update in a similar fashion to google?

Multi-listings are allowed in Zeal. But beware of commercial content on your pages, even if they are accepted initially - they can be removed later. Just keep in mind, Zeal lists links not sites, so be careful what you submit. Any changed URLs - should be updated with Zeal asap.

Many thanks Cossak - I guess I should submit to another cat, problem is there isn't a Worldwide one..... don't want to have to submit to 30 regional cats.

Do you think that's the reason the site is not getting into msn.com but is in msn.co.uk?

This one is a totally non-profit site and the URL won't be changing.

Thanks,

I've noticed the exact same thing with Inktomi listings in msn.co.uk - if the site is ".co.uk" it seems to get moved up the search results.

That's not quite the same thing.

I'm at the top of the msn.co.uk results, but nowhere on msn.com (although in the .com index).

Do they use different datacentres or a geographical algo?

Someone here must know I would have thought?

Who is the recognised MSN guru here?

hmm...sounds like you might have gotten a listing in Zeal UK but not Zeal US, which is what would get you in the MSN.com results. you should be able to submit the same site for a listing in the US directory if you can find a good category for it.

Yes, there is a good US cat for this, I'll submit to that one on Zeal as a second listing.

Thanks for the help.

I think you shud ask Mr. Gates ;)

But, Zeal has a number of country subdomains or subdirectories, like uk.zeal..., so if you have the UK site, it should be submitted first to uk.zeal... and than if it's ok for US users to the main index.

I did it for many times and see it works.
