MusicMoz so easy to get into

I figured I would sign up to be an editor of music moz cause dmoz is so long to get into, and 1 day after I sent an application to MusicMoz, I got to editor of Mp3s. I am happy cause its a large cat (over 800 urls) and many many sub categories. I even got somone working under me :P. Well I cant wait to start editing, it'll be fun! Has anyone else or is anyone an editor for musicmoz?

I have never edited at the other "moz's", but I would think if one would show their editing skills on these directories - it would look awful good on their application to dmoz ;)

I wasn't aware of the DMOZ sister sites. That is an interesting idea. So is it easier to get into than the original DMOZ?

I hope so, they are definitely in need of editors who know their stuff, I was shocked to find out Blind Guardian was a Goth band.<force rant stop>

Does anyone know what the relation is to the original DMOZ? Is it just a loose naming analogy or are the same people behind it or do they even share their index?

What is the relation between this project and the Open Directory Project?

MusicMoz and many of its features were inspired by the Open Directory Project. MusicMoz also uses Open Directory Project data, which any site may do providing they display the correct attribution.

MusicMoz is not affiliated with Netscape, although many of our volunteer editors also edit at the Open Directory Project.

Not quite sure what you mean by your question, but see the How to Get ODP Data FAQ [dmoz.org].

I dont know how in depth im allowed to get, but they share data and musicmoz editors have the ability to "synchronize" data with dmoz to update it.

We do indeed synchronize data from the Open Directory Project, allthough our main focus is creating our own content.

Also, we now have an XML dump that allows third party sites to use both our own data, and the synchronized ODP links with the correct attributions - [musicmoz.org...]

You can look it up on Whois. Registrant is Richard Fuller, a long time DMOZ meta (and not Netscape Corp)
