If I have a website www.widgetsgadgets.com for a company that makes "widgets" and "gadgets", can I have one page submitted for widgets at: Shopping-manufacturers-US-widgets and a different submission for catagory: Shopping-manufacturers-US-gadgets?

If widgets and gadgets are subcategories of a given cat, then you'd belong in the parent cat.

You can submit your site to the appropriate Regional category (in addition to the topical category) if the company has a physical location where it conducts business and this information is available on the website.

You can be listed in two topical categories if widgets and gadgets are completely different things - e.g. widgets are banana milkshake makers and gadgets is information on Napoleon Bonaparte.

Bottom line is that whether your site is worthy of deep links to the two categories you are submitting to, in the end is down to individual editors.

If they are parent child categories, then you are unlikely to get two links. But if they are distinct categories, then how close your milkshakes are to Napoleon Bonaparte is in the eye of the beholder.

My advice would be to submit once to both, and if it did not get listings, then forget about it, do not fight it.

I understand from another thread that DMOZ needs more listing for Napoleon Bonaparte ;) )

I'd suggest that the person first submit to whichever of the 2 they thought was the most important listing. If for example they submit for milkshakes and get that, then the can submit for the Napoleon Bonaparte category. Subsequent listeing likely will be harder than the first.
