Hi,

We decided to streamline our site by stopping the use of an old domain name. Unfortunately the old one was used on a DMOZ entry, and when I went to update it I got an error ("Bad category" or similar).

I submitted a report and mentioned I needed it updating, but the entry was still zapped out of the site. The error was fixed but because it is not in the index any more obviously I can't update it.

I have sent several messages (not to the category editor as requested) but have never got a reply.

Any ideas on the quickest way to get back in the sites?

Thanks,

Gareth

Go to Resource Zone and raise your query there. Look in the forum guidelines for this forum or search in Google.

If you used the mirror at [ch.dmoz.org...] then this might have been the problem. There was a bug in the "add URL", "Become an editor" and "Update URL" links that prevented them from working. Should be fixed by now, either try again or use the main server for submission.

Dmoz server is again down, as of now I am getting

"The page cannot be displayed"

Would it not be an idea if you put a re-direct to ch.dmoz.org on the DMOZ server whenever you are down (or not allowing non editors to access the site)

The site is not really down, it just suffers from to much traffic. Some time ago an access limitation has been installed that will give you no data (which leads into your browser displaying an error message) if you do not get a slot.

We have been told that new hardware is on order but takes some time to be delivered.
