I'm in ODP, but I don't show up in the Google Directory

I thought they were identical ... but then again, a lot of this
isn't making sense. See my other posing on the links issue.

We're getting by on a several hundred $$$ a month investment
in adwords, but we'd rather get the high ranking and the
credibility that comes from that, plus the $$$ in our pocket,
plus enhance revenue.

Hi Ceverett,

Google, as you know, uses the DMOZ directory and there ahve been some technical issues updating the RDF dump from DMOZ.

Here's some reading matter on the subject.

When did you achieve your lising in the DMOZ directory?

One or two years ago, I think.

The worst part is that we don't show up on the other sites that use the directory, which is depriving us of a ton of links ... grr!

Some directories using ODP data haven't been back for a new copy of the RDF for over three years, whilst some are back every few weeks. Google appears to visit at least once per month. The ODP has no control over when, or how often, these sites do their updates.

If you've been in dmoz for one to two years then you should be in the same category in the Google directory. Do you mean that you're not in the category at all or you're one of the sites at the bottom of a category with no PR bar?

If you're not in the Google directory then go back to dmoz and check that you're still in. It may be that your site has been recently delisted and hence has been dropped from the Google directory as well.

Let us know what you find out.

Yes, please give details.

I believe that Google publishes the ODP directory data unmodified, except that they do not show all the intracategory links. They do show the sites in a different order (based on PR.)
