Open-site.org started in order to expand the concept of DMOZ. Open Directory Project stores only one type of content: links. Open-site stores any type of content, not just links.
While it's not hosted by Netscape, the site has a strong connection with DMOZ, been inspired by it, and some DMOZ editors are also active at this project.
>> a site demonstrating a script that is used to gather odp data <<
Open-site does not use ODP data at this point, but in the future we might implement such a thing, if it proves useful.
>> found that the category United Kingdom does not have a sub-category Scotland! <<
Open-site is still at its beginning, so it does not have the comprehensivity that it will be available in the future. Anybody that wants to improve things is welcomed to join. However, we currently do not accept ODP ex-editors. When an editor is removed from ODP, it is also removed/banned from Open-site.
>> it belongs to an American meta <<

I misspoke (or the cyber equivalent).
I should have said, "It is registered to an American meta."
