New site in Dmoz but no where in search results

Correct catergory but my title has been merged!

Submitted my site 4 days ago and has now been listed in Dmoz, the description has been edited but acceptable. However my title has been merged from

word+keyword
to
wordkeyword.com

also all search results do not show my website.

Do I have to wait for an update for the search results to change or should I request my title to be changed as the title has one very important keyword.

I don't believe that any changes I do make would make any difference in future listings in Google, Am I right or wrong?

When I have made changes to listings or submitted new ones it has taken a little while (always different) before it has gone into the searchable index. It will, just be patient.

About submitting a change right away, you could try now or maybe wait until it is in the searchable index and see what you come up for. The change looks like it was done on purpose so I doubt they will change it but if you are very polite you never know.

4 days is fast -- be happy you are submitting to a category with an active editor.

Unless the category generally lists domain names for titles, then you have a good case for asking for a change. Submit the request via the "update url" link. You don't have to wait.

DMOZ's search updates about once a week -- four times as frequent as Google's index -- but still not instant, as you have discovered.

You are probably correct I don't think they would change it,
and I also think it would only make a difference in the searchable results of Dmoz and not Google.

I believe if you are listed in Dmoz you will receive points from Google, but as for the title and search positions, No I dont think it matters.

I have many sites first in Google for many strong keywords
but no where in Dmoz just a listing.

Dmoz plays only a small role in Googles eyes!

I had my site listed in DMOZ in December. It's listed but it doesn't show up in the search. Why not?

If I do a DMOZ search for "extreme exports", the site in your profile comes up.

What you can't do is search for a URL in DMOZ, so looking for (say)

www.microsoft.com

produces zero results.

that is so weird. I have been searching with using the term "extreme exports" even just a few minutes ago and it didn't work. Now it worked for some reason. I think I am going nuts! Must have been the Google Dance that made me as nuts as I am ;)

Oh, now when can I expect to see it in my backlinks. Is the RDF Dump fixed?

Depends on the specifics and the editor. word+keyword may well be rejected. If that is what you want, I'd try making that *blatantly* look like the official site name with a H1 tag or such.

You can search for a URL in DMOZ. Just drop the www. A search for microsoft.com gives you more than 1000 results. You can search for subdomains or specific pages as well (i.e. product.htm).

>> Now it worked for some reason. <<

That's because the search was updated today. It might take a day or so for everything to be using the new data, but you'll see search improvements starting today. The data used to re-index the search is only 1 week old (much better than a few months old ;) ).

Neat trick, thanks! Why didn't I ever think of that? :)
