Do a search on DMOZ and you _might_ see at the bottom of the search results page . . .

Search database last updated on: Mon Dec 9 21:32:07 PST 2002

Do another search, and you'll get the old . . .

Search database last updated on: Sat Sep 28 00:54:00 PDT 2002

Could the first one be a sign of an impending update?

It might be experimental. You can see the progress with the RDF dump at

[dmoz.org...]

There are still errors, but they are a lot fewer than before.

It is a glitch. The search function seemingly knows (on odd occasions) that a new RDF was produced, but is not using it because it has errors. The RDF was not published (see the link above). As noted, the errors are now down to just eleven in 460 000 categories. The last few thousand previous errors were edited by hand, so a few were missed here and there.
