Can information pages of otherwise commercial sites get listed?

Is it possible to submit information pages of a commercial site to Zeal if the pages submitted do not sell anything? The ones I want to submit only have one small product link per page and the rest is all heavy content. I read over their Guidelines but it still wasn't clear if I could do it. It said deep linked informaiton pages of advertising driven sites were okay, but does that mean any pages from a commercial site are forbidden?

I don't want to lose any Zeal points by doing something I shouldn't!

The editor will make the call. If it is good content that appears not to be selling anything it could get in. It really depends on the editor and if the page really would add to the directory. If you think it is good for general surfers on the topic then I would submit it.

I'd suggest posting a thread in the Community Forum and check with the "powers that be".

I had a site I tried to submit with great content and only selling 4 items, but was told I couldn't 'cause the top of each page has a link to "order now".

If you submit and it's considered a commercial site, they told me there'd definitely be a penalty.

Jane_Doe are you a zealot yet? Before you become a zealot you won't be penelized much. It will be a quality quotent hit. You are still learning and they understand that.

You could also just earn enough points to run a category, and then just add it in w/ little supervision. If it isn't a big item and doesn't seem to commercial, nobody will ever notice. I speak from experience.

Thanks for all of the advice.

Korkus2000 - No, I'm not a Zealot righ now, though I do have enough points.

ggrot - Thanks for the suggestion. I'm basically a coward so I'd rather not submit anything even remotely questionable.

Syren_Song - Thanks for the suggestion. I did put a question on the Zealty board and posted a question to a Looksmart editor, but had not heard anything yet.

When I submitted, it took a few hours for them to get respond. Don't despair. Someone will respond eventually. As a matter of fact, I had several folks look to see the response, as well as answering my question. :)

Good luck!

If you have a Looksmart listing for your main domain you can't submit deeplinks even if they are completely off-topic to the main domain. The Zeal software won't let you submit the deeplink. I had to get a senior Zeal/Looksmart editor add my deeplinks manually, and he was unable to get an answer to how I might be able to do this in the future.

PS. My site isn't "commercial" but I do pay Looksmart.

Thanks for all of the advice. I guess I'll submit the pages and see what happens.
