today i got a visit from: dmoz.org/editors/editunrev2.cgi

Does this mean i'm getting included or does one always see this referrer when a dmoz editor visits a site?

actually it means the editor has uploaded (or downloaded - a perspective thing) your listing from the quene.

They may not have actually looked at all -- but at least he/she is preparing to.

fathom,

I thought that editunrev.cgi was the code for "looked at it, but will not be adding"... specifically for something like a site that is offline or an adult site without disclaimer page that would otherwise qualify. I forget where I read that so maybe I'm wrong, but my memory is that seeing that particular entry is a warning that you have been put to the back of the queue and you need to do something to fix a problem. Is there a section of the dmoz FAQ that addresses what the different entries mean? (addurl.cgi is self-explanatory.)

That's not the case. Editunreview shows up whenever someone browses the unreview queue.

"Editunreview shows up whenever someone browses the unreview queue."

Does "unreview" simply equal unreviewed?

So does this mean when somebody browses the unreviewed queue that every site in the unreviewed queue will get an editunreview in their logs? Or did the person have to specifically look at a site for that editunreview to show up?

No it's not a adult site. It's a startpage similar concept like startpagina.nl, lotta adjustable colors adjustable effects preferences etc etc

I started 2 weeks ago, and i doubt that i will be included, since i have very little subpages at the time, people must ask their subpage and then they can build in the links throug interface.

The editor would have to look at a site. Only then does his browser issue a request to get a resource from that site and sends the referrer in the http request.

Speaking of ominous referrers, I hope this editor isn't taking a chain saw to my listing! :)

(deleted_remote_host) - - [16/Nov/2002:18:24:47 -0500] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 31221 "http://dmoz.org/editors/editunrev.cgi?site=(deleted_site_id)&cat=(deleted_cat) &super=1&supercat=(deleted_super_cat)&chainsaw=1" "Opera/5.12 (Macintosh;US;PPC) [en]"

(I deleted the editor's remote host and all category id info for posting purposes. Also added some spaces to allow the lines to wrap)

I think I'd rather see "tulipchain" than "chainsaw" - It just sounds better!

Anybody know what this "chainsaw" entry means?

Thanks,
Jim

There are two modes to edit the unreviewed queue: chainsaw and traditional mode. Basically with the chainsaw mode you can delete or move more than one entry at the same time and you have easier access to a site summary and the actual editing page.

Nothing to worry about and nothing really fancy.

In my experience the "chainsaw" referral has different meanings.

Generally this means "removed" from the category (but not necessarily deleted) the editor could be moving your listing to a different category.

The "chainsaw" reference can also be preceeded by a site ID number as well as the old or new categories.

Often this means that if your listing does not immediately appear, it may still be waiting for the new editor (different cat) to review.
