Have you guys ever seen a site listed in DMOZ for a few months and then removed? I can't seem to find my listing, but it was there.

If it was truly removed, how will this effect my PR on Google's next update. PR5 now.

THX,
Spinner

Yes. Sometimes sites that shouldn't be listed in the first place are added by inexperienced editors. When a senior editor happens across such a listing he or she usually yanks it.

The other possibility is that your site was moved to another category.

A little off topic but...

Does anyone know what last updated means at DMOZ?

Is it when a site is added or removed?
Or will just a description or title change be considered updated?

Does tha que have anything to do with last updated?

Thanks

Last updated is flagged separately and individually for each ODP category. It reflects the date of the last change made to the public listing of that category - the addition of a new site, or deletion of an existing site listing, or a change of URL, Title or Description for an existing listing. The Last Updated date does not change if someone is editing in the Unreviewed Queue unless that editing has some impact on the public side of the directory.

WebSpinner, you may ask in the Open Directory Public Forum what happened to the listing of your site.

I'd actually encourage people to spend far less time worrying about their listing there, and work on an overall SEO strategy. While a directory listing might be important for a site that has just started, and has no presence yet, the time and effort you might spend getting a listing there could be better spent forming reciprocal linkage relationships with compatible sites, or optimizing your interal linkage.

LOL..They did not remove my listing, but changed the link name from my site to the Company's name. This is an interesting change, because under the business name, there are 3 sites that we run.

Peter, I agree with you, I was just curious as to how Google would handle a "removed" site.
