Out of interest, has anyone had any sites accepted into DMOZ in the last 3 months?

Had one excepted over the weekend. Depends on the cat... and the editor, or lack of...

The cat I've been submitting to has no editor so I haven't been able to get listed either. I even applied to become an editor for that cat but never received any type of reply at all. It's been a few months since I last tried.

Edited for spelling.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't had a site listed in the last six months. Nor have I had a reply to emails to cat editors about progress. Nor have I had any reply to cat editor application. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't really matter. Google care about the quality of their search results and soon dmoz will start affecting the quality of results (imho it already has). <wishful thinking> Then Dmoz will become redundant and we can all move on. </wishful thinking> Seriously though- it is getting beyond a joke. Most of the editors in cats which I look at work in "internet marketing"... hmmmm...

In active categories I handle, at least one gets lucky every day. And some not so lucky.

My cat has had some accepted as recently as last week. Plenty of others were shifted to more appropriate cats, fate unknown. And spammy ones were deleted. No waiting for new listings... :)

(OTOH, I've got submittals of my own that seem to have vanished into a black hole...)

I find that a bit unusual. It's not a surprise that URL submissions don't get a reply, but usually editor apps get processed one way or another...

GaryK and edit_g, did you reply to the auto-responder? Otherwise, your editor application wa never entered into the system and no one would ever had the opportunity to review it.

As for site acceptance: it is impossible to say whether waiting time will be shorter or longer, as it depends on the availability of the server, the type of site, the type of category, and the type of editor involved. A submission to Arts/Classical_Studies I usually handle within 48 hours, because there is such low volume there. A submission to Society/Relationships/Dating may take considerably longer, because not only is there extremely heavy volume, but the category is such a magnet for spammers and affiliates that each site requires much heavier scrutiny before listing.

I accept sites all the time. Seems a silly thread to start...

Several weeks ago there were some server problems that meant that for 4 or 5 days there were very few people editing.

Your sites may have been included, but not showing up yet. For several days the Page Regeneration was running very slow (at one point about 3 days rather than 5 minutes behind), and I assume you do know that the search database hasn't been updated for 5 weeks. There are thousands of sites that are in, but don't show unless you look directly at the category listing.

It's often fairly slow, however, sites have been going through. We've had 2 listed in the last 3-4 months. A few seem to fall into the black hole or maybe they're not deemed relevant by the editors, but most make it in eventually. Its not the end of the world if they don't.
