LookSmart passes 25,000 small business directory listings

What's the critical mass?

When compared to ODP cats that are likely to be almost 100% "small business listings":

Top: Business (223,073)
Top: Shopping (119,759)

and the other (rough guess) 20% of other sites throughout the directory that would have to pay in LookSmart, it doesn't look so impressive.

Or YAHOO!

Business to Business (279339)
Shopping and Services (433982)

And they must be counting all those free accounts they "upgraded."

It would be nice if they explained that one too, (good point Laisha) about how many of those signed up for the program...and how many signed up without signing up :)

Wait. I just reread that, and perhaps they are saying that they have driven 25000 click thrus through the new program?

Looking at a chart for LOOK, (since we are discussing a press release, which was sent by Looksmart to help people picture their business as 'doing well) is it expected they will lose .29 cents per share this quarter, or make a profit of 5 cents?

It's a bit confusing, looking at those numbers, they seem a bit down. Kind of like that press release.

I'm surprised that they didn't include a bigger SEO firm on the release, too. Or one that has been in PR releases with Looksmart before....

my take on it is that they are trying to pitch the 'seo little guy' to buy in looksmart listings for their clients.

There's no way I'd do it, but then, some people will do anything for a buck.
