He talks of rising prices, but at the bottom the article says AOL suffered from consumer perceptions that they were being squeezed?
"Preimum services" from other TW divisions? Streaming movies and such has been touted for so long as the way the internet biz can increase prices and still no real progress. Until its better to watch streamning video and the like on a 'puter than the tellie, video or cable, there will be no improvement. At the moment its a very poor man's poor video.tv. even if you have fast access which the majority worldwide do not have. There has to be a killer application to justifiy ppeople buying more expensive access. There have been no "killer" internet applications since the Web, and before then - email. By themselves, they dont require fast access, and that is why they are killer applications!
The industry really does need to revise their thinking to survive. Provide more of something that other media CANT do, instead of imitating old media. No answer have I, but then again i dont get paid as much as Steve!
