i haven't followed the ODP forum so sorry if this is an often asked question here (couldn't find it though):
the site i recently submitted is listed in one ODP site but not in dmoz.org or anywhere else where i looked.
is this normal? how long will it take until it reaches dmoz.org and google?

all sites running ODP data actually submit to dmoz.org only.
That is not necessarily so. There are scores of sites using ODP data, some of which use ODP simply as a starting point and add their own data to that. (Wherewithal's Xoron comes to mind.)
I'd say that your best bet owuld be to submit directly to ODP.
the site laisha snipped from my post was NOT my site. it was the ODP dump where my site appeared. i didn't mention my site at all.
i thought if we are allowed to mention dmoz, looksmart, yahoo and whatever i was also allowed to mention smaller directories.
sometimes WebmasterWorld's policies don't seem very logic to me..
anyway: i did submit my site to dmoz.org only and not to [small ODP dump i'm not allowed to mention] or any other ODP using sites.
so the only reason would be that [small ODP dump] has added me manually to their data. unlikely but possible.

Muesli, I didn't see anything like a directory at that site, but then I didn't look very hard. Nevertheless that site looked like a regular commercial site, which may have as an added value a ODP dump directory. Sorry for the misunderstanding - my bad.
that was it! it is in ODP, it only doesn't get found by the search function yet. cool! (although: i could swear i looked at both directories and stated that my site was only in one. but on the other hand maybe i just looked at the google directory... :)

ps. the other sites directory is on .../opendir.php but you're right, is irrelevant.
Heini, you are right about this. I recently got a new site of mine added to the ODP. It is on the same topic as the site listed in my profile, and in the same category if you want to verify this. Now, if you try and find this site with the search function, it comes up a blank. The search function isn't checking the current directory, but some older version.
For MSN/Inktomi, the answer is, "maybe never, inktomi doesn't pick up ODP data directly.
For Google/Yahoo search, the answer is, "probably 3-11 weeks, depending on where they are in their monthly spider-crunch-upload cycle."
For search at dmoz.org, this is the wrong question. The right question is "How long after it appears in DMOZ search does someone come looking for my keywords -- other than an ODP editor checking for spam, or a competitor looking for his own site?" And the answer is "I'm not sure the moon ever gets that deep an azure hue."
