I would like to submit in ...
Recreation: Travel: Lodging: Hotels
but there is no 'add URL' - all of my competitors are listed there - there is no deeper catagory that fits either.
I've tried hitting the refresh button - so it is not a browser cache problem
what can I do?

My site won't fit into the 2 other options - it is perfect for the catagory concerned - all of my competitors are there.
I'm not sure how you get to be in a catagory that you are not technically allowed to submit to.
If I email the editor, how long should I give it if I get no reply?
... at least a few weeks. Editors are volunteers, a month would be a reasonable time. Try also asking specifically on [resource-zone.com...] . A lot of editors hang out there.
There is 1 catagory that I could technically be listed in ..
lodging : Directories
But I would much rather be in Lodging : Hotels
This is where my competitors are - actually everyone in the hotels section could technically be in the directory section - but I think a lot more people looking for hotels are going to look in 'hotels' rather than 'directory'
I could submit to the directory section - and then work on getting moved later I guess - but I'm afraid that if they stick me there they won't move me, because my site does fit.
Actually, I think dmoz have really messed this up ...
Lodging : Directories should be for sites with directories listing accommodation
Lodging : Hotels should be for individual hotel web sites or individual hotel chains
But there are both types of sites listed in both pages - there is really no difference - except I know which page will bring the most visitors.
