Running Postgre with Apache on Wins

Is it doable?

In regard of Oracle last acquisition
I for the first time went to Postgre site (I should have done it since a long time!)

An Interesting fact is that it can be installed even if a user has no root privilege
Which if I not wrong might help any user operating out of server with no MySQL installed or if using MySQL for an X-tra fee. However how secured can be such an install at WWW level?

But my main question is:
Knowing it works well in a PHP environment
I am wondering if it can be installed on a local test bed with the following setup:
XP pro running Apache and PHP on Windows
Another word is there a Postgre that can be installed to run with Apache on windows?

If so I will give it a try and supply an addendum to my tutorial in our bag o’ tricks

You shouldn't have any trouble running it with Windows.

People always get confused about the difference between operating systems and web/application servers.

The two are not related one bit.

PostgrSQL is a database. It has nothing to do with the web at all. It stores data. You need to be concerned about running it on your Operating System.

You can run any web/application server you want on any operating system.

Well, Yes and Not

In the absolute you are indeed correct

But Wins reality sounds a bit different
Here is what I found in a Devshed forum
Plus it seems that no tutorial is available

And further
It would an easy install if one runs for ex: Red Hat on Wins as I do

But my quest lies in using it directly on wins
In the same way MySQL runs on wins within a LAMP environment

If you are in a windows environment, PostgreSQL can only compile using Cygwin which can be very messy
