Hi,
Can someone save me from this trouble?

I am using Mysql under the xampp distribution, and yesterday i made a mistake in the /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf config file, and now the Mysql rdbms has just stopped, taking no signal. Can someone please help me?

I would start with the operating system error logs to see what is being thrown. You can always pull a new default my.cnf and restart the server. Use a diff utility to start adding in your own changes one at a time until the server won't start again. This way you can nail down exactly which configuration directive is causing you issues.
