Not sure if this is the best forum, but I thought I would ask.
We have an application written in vb.net that uses mysql. The application connects to a remote server for all of it's transactions.
here in the states, the transactions seems to work just fine. (We are in Florida and the server is in texas...some rackspace we rent)
Now...we recently opened an office in Thailand...and the users there are reporting awful speeds. just just slow, but down to a crawl.
They tell us their other internet stuff runs fine, and speedtest shows OK speeds.
Is there something in the Mysql configuration that needs to be set up for such a distant connection? Or is the sheer distance going to cause the connection to be slow no matter what? I would think that if all the web stuff is fast enough, then the mysql connection would be as well?
