HELPP! Problem With Dupes

I have a joomla based site I'm working on and some how we've ended up with duplicate titles of records.

we have Titles in categories, subset of sections.

I need unique titles for EACH entry within each category I have 18 categories in one section. There's only one section where this is a problem so I only need to concern myself with this one particular section, and the categories therein.

Could someone tell me what instruction we can use through phpadmin to remove the dupes WITHIN EACH category? I don't think its a problem if we two of the same titles in this section, as long as they are in different categories.

I would do it by hand, but we're talking about over 5000 records.
