MySQL Table (ID auto increment)

is there anyway to re-start the auto increment?

i had 1-30 test records in there and delted them to make room for actual records, and it continued at 31...

i would like to start fresh with record 1 and so on...

or am i going to have to create a new table?

ALTER TABLE tbl AUTO_INCREMENT = 1;
