I'm looking for a ready made database script that uses MySQL and can be bridged with VBulletin. Either an open source project, or a reasonably priced one with good support.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

You mean you are looking for an open source database management script or package? Have you considered phpMyAdmin?
