Hello , am with same host as WebmasterWorld and very happy with there services , i have only one problem with them that the mysql they provide is of lower version 4.1.9

i need to have new version , inspite repeated requests they are not able to upgrade it , may be taking 3 months they say

i dont really want to leave this host as they provide great service for only this reason

what are the wayouts with me

i am having virtual hosting account and i think we have enough rights in that to upgrade the mysql myself

what do you say?
i am looking for instructions to follow to carry out the upgrade.

i cannot think of any better place to ask assistance for the same extept WebmasterWorld

Shared hosting is limited to whatever the support team decides, and in this case it is a version of MySQL lower than what you need/desire. If you need more control over your environment you are better off getting your own server.

hmm i agree with you , but there are ways to upgrade this mysql , these guys say you can your self upgrade your mysql, they wont do this for all the clients from backend

i cant afford to get my own dedicated server. But i know this is not a big issue.
