Need to start my own Affiliate program

I have planned to start an affiliate program for my site. I would like to know how I should make a start. given that my knowledge is very very basic in mysql.

This is a pretty big project for a new programmer or one who doesn't know much about MySQL.

Actually, the MySQL part of the project should be pretty easy, assuming you have something like phpMyAdmin installed on your server to help you with the creation and administration of the database.

I've always found that programming the interface is more difficult.
