convert word table to excel table

Cut and paste just doesn't work

does anyone know how I can convert a word table in to excel spreadsheet?

Would much rather not have to re-enter all those details ....

cut and paste just distorts the excel table ..

I would be grateful for some ideas or indeed a solution ...

I need to maintain the columns ...

There may be different (and better ways) and depending on what version of MS Office you are using, but one way is to:

* Save the Word document, that contains the table, as a web page

* In Excel, use the Data >> Import External Data >> New Web Query option.

This would allow you to select the table, from the web page, that you would like to import.

Copy/Paste should work,

When pasting try right click and select Paste Special, select Text as the paste option
