I have a site with about 300 pages and plan on significant growth. The site was constructed using html and css alone but I'm starting to find it unmanageable and am considering moving to a content management system. I've been looking through these forums to get some tips, there seems to be a wealth of information here but I have to admit that a lot of the information here is beyond my level (I know nothing about php, asp, mysql etc).
The site is run by me alone, I don't need any fancy features such as multiple editors or "number of users online" counters, just a more manageable version of what I already have.
I have outlined below the features I am looking for in a cms, can you please give me some advice on a cms which meets my needs or let me know of some specific "technical terms" to look out for to assess a cms myself:-
No worsening of my serps results from their current level
The ability to have some fixed elements on each page (eg logo and main menu), some items which can easily be incorporated in to several pages (eg menus for a sub-category to appear on each page within that sub-category) and elements which are specific to each page (eg, the content + pictures).
The ability to generate URLs which match the URLs I currently have on my site (format = www.mysite.com/category/sub-category/article.htm) as I have a lot of deep links.
The ability to customise page layout so that it doesn't look like 100s of other "straight from the box" sites.
If I want to add something to multiple pages at a later date (for example, an email address in the top right corner of each page or a set of adverts in the middle of each page in a particular category) I only need to add code once and not have to repeat this on each page.
Freedom to choose my own title, meta-description, h1 tags etc.
