Deciding how to set up forum.

Hi all,

I have a main site NICHEwidgets. I want to add a forum for discussing the articles, posting news and discussing the niche in general.

Do you think, for SEO reasons, it would be best to:

1. Make board: forum.nichewidgets.com
2. Make board: nichewidgets.com/forum/
3. Make board: mynicheforum.com

or other.

Thoughts?

I'm a fan of option (1) ... but it's a pretty irrational preference. Not sure re: SEO.

I would use option #3 and give the forum its own domain name, and use a domain name something like nordicskiingforum.com and have the title be something like Nordic Skiing Forum.
