I have a nice forum but I have over 1500 members and only 20 of them will post what am I dooing wrong I have read everything here.

Personally i suggest doing mass emails to wake people up who may have forgoten about your forum, also try to create threads that no one can resist posting in.

Sorry for the double post but try threads in your off topic section like "Ask something to the person below" or "last person to reply to this wins" Ive seen both of those types become threads with 20k posts with later of the two offer some kind of prize. Or even hold a top poster of the ,month contest everyone once and a while offer a to throw a few bucks at the winner.

I have done all that I have some of those threads that have like 700 replys it's just aaI can not keep a steady flow of members!

Do you have any idea why members tend to drift away -- whether they become disinterested in the topic(s), or whether they're still interested but are looking for a forum that supplies something yours doesn't?

Without getting into specifics, some forums tend to be more "passing through" kinds of places. Some tech support forums are like that - a community never forms.

Getting that "community feeling" is hard to create artificially - you need to have a group of friendly, welcoming members who enjoy interacting with others. These members tend to be the "glue" that holds the rest of the community together. They welcome new arrivals, and make them feel part of the community.

Some of these friendly members may make good mods, others are just happy to be part of the community.
