phpBB 2.0.17 released

"phpBB Group announces the release of phpBB 2.0.17, the "no, we did not forget naming it last time" release. This release addresses several bugfixes and some low security issues as well as the recently seemingly wide-spread XSS issue (only affecting Internet Explorer)."

It was a painless update with no database changes or changes to functionality.

One bit of heartening news was the announcement of a new complete security audit of the phpBB 2.x codebase. It shows a determination by the phpBB developers to continue support for the old 2.x code even though the new 3.0 release is approaching rapidly. So, I think we can expect more security updates to come.

i had a couple of errors do the changes bu i worked them out, (i have a fairly modded forum so its easier for me to do the changes my self)

when are they going to get rid of the highlight functionality all together?

patche 2.0.16 was moot for me since the functions that were compromised don't exist anymore in the one I run.

They started saying that about 4 Years ago and i`m sure 3.0 will not be released within the next 12 months.

man id they release 3.0 im not gonna update manually im gonna just remod the enter thing from scratch, or see if i can get a premodded one
