AOL to Acquire Socialthing [bloomberg.com]
Time Warner Inc.'s AOL unit agreed to buy Socialthing, whose technology lets people gather social- networking updates in one place, to draw more online advertising revenue.

Socialthing, based in Boulder, Colorado, aggregates friends' photos, text messages and music preferences from different social networks. The company has four full-time employees and partnerships with companies including Facebook Inc. and Digg, said Allie Burns, a spokeswoman for New York-based AOL.

It's like, One ring to sell them all. They could have called it SocialRing. But that would have exposed the underlying cynicism of the project. Imo it's a big who cares.
