How to find a community builder / partner for my network?

I've had a small community up for nearly a year. It hasn't had much traffic, nor has it really taken off. I would say this is a direct reflection of the amount of time I've spent building the community.

At this point, I'd really like to find someone to act as a community builder in return for an equity share of the business (it turns a modest profit monthly).

Where should i start looking...

I've posted on a couple boards, but haven't had any folks that are really qualified respond. It's not that I don't want to build the community myself, it's that the site design and development have eaten all the time, I planned to spend.

Suggestions?

Depending on the skillset you are looking for, you might find "help wanted" boards at your software's site (e.g., if you are using vBulletin, phpBB, or other common package) as well as the few communities dedicated to forum admins.

You could also try freelance sites, but I'd go that route only for very specific tasks that you can pay cash for. I doubt if you'll find an experienced and versatile community builder at those sites, but you might be able to get help with specific tasks.

Most experienced forum admins/community builders are going to prefer cash to equity, but you never know. Another approach might be to find someone who is moderately Web savvy and has a real passion for your community's topic. There might be a learning curve, but that person might relate better to your members and be more likely to work hard for an equity stake.

rogerd,

thanks for the advice. i was thinking it may be best to find someone in the community topics industry. as for the software, we are custom rails social network (nor forum admin skills necessary).

just trying to find someone with the motivation and interest.
