Recently, a lot of people have been frustrated by applications that inappropriately require you to invite friends. This generates a bad experience for both application users and their friends who receive unwanted invitations.

We've been working on several improvements to prevent this and other abuses by applications.

These include, blocking an application, clearing all requests, reduction in applications, opt-out of e-mails, etc.

Interesting tradeoff - how much friend notification is too much? It seems like a personal variable. Eventually, some kind of adaptive system would seem best.

The number of friends may also have an effect. If I have five friends, I may want to hear from them all the time. If I have five hundred, I'll be overwhelmed.
