We are very pleased to announce the availability of the phpBB3 RC2 package. This is the second release candidate which is meant to become the Gold release if no more bugs or problems arise. Of course there may be more release candidates.
How is this release doing - does it look likely to go gold?

No gold, already stated on phpbb.com by the lead developer there will be a RC3.

Too bad, I'm sure phpbb users are chomping at the bit to go into production with the new version.

Some already are, they are providing support for RC1 and up. RC2 came with a automatic updater if you were running a modified version. For all intents and purposes it's done. The bug tracker still has many bugs but these are mostly minor issues.
